Laura Mita is currently a full-time editor working with 4 Horsemen Publications. Before becoming a full-time editor, she taught college English for 15 years, mostly Composition 1 and 2 to freshmen and sophomores. While she predominantly taught writing classes, her passion was always for literature. And, of course, she loves language, so in addition to co-authoring Sentence Diagramming 101: Fun with Linguistics (and Movies) for fun, she’s been studying Italian on an app, through tv shows, and by reading and listening to literature for nearly 5 years, hoping to one day be able to communicate fluently with her family in Italy.
After transitioning from teaching to book editing, through 4 Horsemen Publications, she has had the opportunity to read some amazing stories by really great people. Her favorite types of fiction include fantasy and sci-fi, and even though she should be “grown up,” she loves YA fiction. Every year, she spends time relistening to the Harry Potter and I Am Number Four series. But, her passion for literature is not just in the written word. She loves watching tv, so she developed and taught a class about television as literature. Some of her favorite shows include Psych, Doctor Who, Chuck, Grimm, LOST (even the ending), Warehouse 13, and Fringe. Really, her favorite books, tv shows, and film include too many to list. Outside of reading and watching television and film, she enjoys traveling and experiencing new places whenever possible with her husband and their two children.
