Testimonials

Thinking about submitting, but still unsure if 4 Horsemen is the right publisher for you? Here are some testimonials from our authors all about their own experiences signing and working with 4HP:

“As an author who recently joined 4HP, I’m finding they are highly prepared, and reachable.  They talk at my level, and usually teach me something.

4HP gives me the sense that I will succeed because they have done so much background work, such as publishing trends and future trends, and they have the organizational acumen that is needed to make their authors a success.”

Lou Kemp

“A publisher that works beside you instead of in front of you. A publisher with the tools to help you be the best writer you can be.”

Whether it’s typesetting, book covers, edits, events and marketing, they are dedicated to each of their authors, and go above and beyond for everyone’s different needs. They value the creative process and personalize every interaction which truly makes you feel like you are part of a creative family and not just another writer pumping out books for the company machine.”

“It’s called team work, and as a writer, I know we can struggle with thoughts of is it good enough? Should I write this? Maybe I am not that good,..but 4 Horsman Publications makes you feel  positive and any CREATIVE goal or dream can be achieved. They take the time to motivate the storyteller wanting to tell more and use their writing talents.”

Mark Tarrant

“As someone 6 books deep coming from the self-publishing arena, I was struggling with so many aspects. Marketing was a big one, affordable editing another. I had written query after query and, to my own admission, they fell short on what a query should be. But I had run into Val and Erika at a convention. They were calm and understanding of the troubles authors have with the process. They were wonderful with the whole thing and provided honest feedback about the story, cover, how the entire company runs. They are very transparent about everything. While I am a newer author to the 4HP family, I look forward to being with them for a long time.”

In this industry, “no” is a common refrain. When I started the Wolves of Wharton series, I heard it a lot. No, you can’t use that trope and still have a happily-ever-after. No, you can’t have a protagonist whose actions are morally gray. No, no one wants horror in their romance. I had fully intended to self-publish, because I was concerned that my vision would be sanitized and made more palatable for a general audience.

4HP and I took a chance on each other. When I signed in October 2020, Valerie, Erika, and Jen had been in business for a matter of months. Conversely, I was a no-name author with a manuscript and a vague idea of what the series’ future would look like.

4HP made it clear that they trusted me as a storyteller. Their support turned what was one book into a six-part series. Never once have they asked me to “tone it down” or “think of the reviews!” Instead, they very sagely said: “Beau, you will find your people.”

It turns out that they are my people.

Yes, they have published my books, but that’s hardly scratching the surface of what they’ve done for me. They have given me confidence, friendship, support, motivation, and the grace I often don’t give myself.

Can I tell you a story? In December 2021, only a few weeks into my contract, my grandfather was hospitalized with COVID-19. Mid-panic attack, I wrote 4HP an email, terrified that I would miss an upcoming deadline. I can still remember crying hysterically in my kitchen, afraid I would be dropped—surely, I had destroyed my dream before it had come to fruition. Hadn’t I read so many horror stories from authors signed to the larger publishing companies? But the email I got back from 4HP was empathetic and kind. “This is meant to be fun, not a burden,” they said. “You have all the time in the world.” That’s when I really understood what kind of people I was working with: real people who saw me as a real person too. No one here looks at me and sees a dollar sign above my head.
